Ancient lore to guide your life
Runic lore and the mystery of the runes are as much a part of Celtic lore as the passing of the seasons and the rhythms of the natural year, woven together and as interlocking as the wonderfully intricate patterns of Celtic art. And of course, the relationship of the Sun, the Moon and the Earth, the turning of the year and the movement of the planets inspired the first systems of divination and prediction.
In this beautiful deck THE RUNIC TAROT presents the powerful symbolism of a Major Arcana comprising the 24 glyphs of a runic zodiac wheel with traditional Norse significance. This is coupled with a Minor Arcana of 4 suits, each reflecting a season of the Celtic calendar: Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh and Samhain each hold 12 cards, one for each week of the 3-month period, and 4 special cards mark the equinoxes and solstices. The power of the Sun, the Earth and the seasons is buried deep in our psyche, our beliefs and our culture. This spectacular deck encourages us to use this intuitive knowledge to enrich and guide our lives.
Pack contains 76 spectacular cards and a 184-page illustrated book.

Caroline Smith and John Astrop |
Caroline Smith has used the imagery of Goddesses in her paintings for 20 years. Her work hangs in collections throughout the world. Her paintings have been reproduced by publishers for the jackets of books on psychology, mythology and the goddesses. She conceived and illustrated
The Elemental Tarot in 1988, which has now become a highly regarded modern classic of tarot. Based on a unique system using the 4 elements instead of the traditional suits, this fully illustrated tarot broke new ground in imagery and interpretation. In 1998 she created
The Moon Oracle, a system of divination based on the lunar mansions and lunar phases. Caroline’s knowledge of symbolism and brilliant feeling for colour and imagery add powerfully to the beauty of the cards. Caroline exhibits her paintings regularly in galleries in Europe and America.
John Astrop, Caroline’s husband, is an astrologer, author and artist. He was elected a fellow of the Society of Industrial Artists in 1970. During this period he lectured at Hornsey Art College and was a governor of Southend Art College. He also became interested in astrology and joined the Astrological Lodge of London and the Astrological Association. As an extension of this interest and with a growing involvement with children’s activity books, he also studied psychology and in particular child psychology. He wrote
Sun Child Moon Child, a study of parent/child relationships and
Little Stars, a series of books for parents based on the astrology of a child’s first seven years. John worked closely with Caroline in both
The Elemental Tarot and
The Moon Oracle, writing both books and contributing the astrological content. Throughout the last 20 years he has worked professionally in astrology, writing and lecturing at major annual conferences both in the UK and Europe.
